Bono and Steven Spielberg are among the nine nominees up for an annual award handed out by former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.
Google boss Sergei Brin and former Brazilian leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva are also on the shortlist for The Man Who Changed the World Award.

Gorbachev announced his nominees on Thursday. He’ll honor the winner at a gala, held to mark his 80th birthday, in London on 30 March.
