Queen rocker Brian May is keeping his fingers crossed after initial health tests to rule out a cancer scare came back negative.
The veteran guitarist has been battling a series of ailments in recent months after struggling to recover from knee surgery in August, and having to deal with agonising pain in his buttocks and his hip joint following a performance in Las Vegas in September.
Last month, he was diagnosed with torn spinal discs, and doctors advised him to undergo a number of medical exams over the Christmas holidays to rule out the possibility of cancer.
Now May has given fans an update on his official website, stating that although he won’t be given the all clear for some time, the results so far have been “mainly” good news.
He writes, “Basically I am still in diagnostic-land, but hopefully not for much longer… Basically all the tests I’ve had have come back with good reports, and so most of the ills that were possibilities a couple of weeks ago are now ruled out.”
May reveals he underwent a biopsy on his prostate to investigate “some small possible problem areas” on Friday, and he is hoping the results will shed some light on his multiple health issues.
Describing the process, he writes, “It’s not a joyride, I was unconscious for most of it, and it wasn’t as bad as I expected ! I’ll get the results next week, and then things should hopefully be much clearer.”
