Britney Spears has hit out at the Galerie Sympa art gallery, in the southwestern village of Figeac, France, after it claimed to be hosting the singer’s “first solo show”.
On its official Instagram page, the venue shared details of the exhibition, writing curators were, “thrilled to announce that we will be opening @britneyspears first solo show.”
However, a publicist for the 38-year-old pop star has since told the BBC that “there is no truth to this”.
When WENN went to press, the gallery was still advertising the show on its social media page, with a snap of a flower painting by the Toxic star, a post in honour of the 21st anniversary of her debut album, …Baby One More Time, and the hashtag “#FreeBritney” – the movement from devotees on social media who remain unhappy with the singer being under the conservatorship of her dad, Jamie.
According to the gallery, the Sometimes you just gotta play!!!!! exhibition, named after a caption Spears wrote on Instagram last year alongside a clip of herself painting outside, will run “till the world ends” – in a nod to the star’s 2011 hit of the same name.
It is set to open on 18 January.
