Embattled singer Chris Brown overcame the controversy surrounding his performance on TV’s Dancing With The Stars on Tuesday night to win a standing ovation from the studio audience and show judges.
The troubled singer hit the headlines last week when he smashed a window backstage after an appearance on breakfast show Good Morning America, following a tense interview about his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna.

The scandal prompted beloved Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron and professional dancer Cheryl Burke to urge producers to consider scrapping Brown’s set on Tuesday’s program as a result of his violent behavior on GMA.

Burke said, “As a victim of domestic violence I don’t agree with him coming on the show but it’s out of my control.”

But TV bosses refused to axe the performance and Brown hit the stage twice as scheduled to sing his latest single Yeah 3x and Forever.

And the R&B star’s energetic performance appeared to win over the studio audience and Dancing judges – he received loud applause and a standing ovation after both sets.
