Embattled moviemaker Bryan Singer has confessed his bisexual days may soon be over because he can’t see himself settling down with a woman.
The director, who has been named in two sexual assault lawsuits filed by men who were teenagers when they claim to have had intercourse with him, tells gay magazine Out he’s “quite bisexual”.
In a new interview, which Singer sat down for just before news of his legal woes broke last month, he says, “In the last five years, I’ve had two girlfriends – one for two years, one for eight months… (but) in the end, it’s probably going to be a guy (I settle down with). I emotionally lean towards male relationships, so I’m happy to say I’m gay, too.”
Singer also reveals his parents considered sending him to therapy when he first came out to them.
He told them, “My sexuality is not what is tearing me up inside. I’m in love and he doesn’t love me back and it’s killing me. I need relationship advice!”
The X-Men director has mostly been silent since the allegations against him became public. He released a statement which read: “The allegations against me are outrageous, vicious and completely false… The facts will show this to be the sick twisted shake down it is.”
He also stepped back from promotional duties for his new film X-Men: Days of Future Past, announcing, “I do not want these fictitious claims to divert ANY attention from… this fantastic film,” calling it “a labor of love and one of the greatest experiences of my career”.
