Moviemaker Tim Burton has created a giant balloon for next month’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.
His B. Boy will float alongside Garfield and Snoopy inflatables.

Burton admits he was “surprised” to be asked to be a part of the annual parade, which takes over the streets of the Big Apple, and he jumped at the chance to create a balloon.

He tells USA Today B. Boy was inspired by the thought of unwanted balloons left behind at children’s parties at the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, that dream of being able to fly free.

Burton adds, “There’s always been something about balloons. You see them deflated and you see them floating. There’s something quite beautiful and tragic and sad and buoyant and happy, all at the same time.”
