Kenny Chesney looks set to lead the charge at the 2012 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards after scoring nine nominations.
The country superstar will compete in top categories including Male Vocalist of the Year, Vocal Event of the Year and Song of the Year for You and Tequila, his duet with Grace Potter.

He’ll also go up against Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum for the coveted Album of the Year prize.

Lady Antebellum will also attempt to defend their title as last year’s Vocal Group of the Year, facing tough competition from The Band Perry, the Eli Young Band, Rascal Flatts and the Zac Brown Band.

Lambert will do battle with fellow country queens Sara Evans, Martina McBride, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood to be named Female Vocalist of the Year – one of the four trophies she scooped last year.

Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton, who hosted last year’s ceremony, will reteam to present the 47th Annual ACM Awards, which will be broadcast live on 1 April.
