Chrissie Hynde’s daughter has been arrested while protesting against plans to build a new road through a U.K. nature spot.
Natalie Hynde, whose father is Ray Davies of The Kinks, was apprehended on Tuesday by police on suspicion of trespassing.
The 29 year old had moved into a tree house and spent weeks living on the perch to prevent developers from destroying Combe Haven Valley, in East Sussex, England.
On Monday, Hynde had bolted herself to a branch in anticipation of the authorities’ arrival, but she was cut free and lowered to the ground for medical checks to ensure she was healthy before her arrest.
Before her arrest Natalie Hynde told Britain’s Guardian newspaper, “This is an anti-roads campaign and it’s linked in with so many other issues – the (U.K. budget) cuts and the misdirection of enormous wealth into a £100m road. It’s grotesque when you look at the beautiful place it’s destroying.”
The Pretenders star herself is no stranger to activism – the singer was arrested in 2000 for participating in an animal rights demonstration outside a Gap clothing store in New York.
