Actor Jeff Conaway is entering a crucial 48-hour period in his fight for survival, according to his manager.
The Grease star, who played bad boy Kenickie in the hit musical, has been hospitalized since 11 May, when he was found unconscious amid initial reports of a drug overdose. It later emerged that Conaway was battling pneumonia and sepsis, a potentially fatal blood poisoning caused by a bacterial infection.

The star’s manager Phil Brock confirmed on Monday the next 48 hours will be crucial for Conaway, who is still in a critical condition.

The 60 year old, who has famously battled drink and drug problems, has been placed in a medically induced coma to aid his recovery at the Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center in California.
