Veteran actress Dame Judi Dench has been handed the British Film Institute’s (BFI) coveted Fellowship Award for her contribution to the movie and television industries.
The Oscar-winner was presented with the title during the organisation’s annual Chairman’s Dinner on Wednesday night at the BFI Southbank in London.

Dench follows in the footsteps of previous recipients including Clint Eastwood, Sir Ridley Scott and last year’s winner, director Danny Boyle.

She says, “For someone who was told in 1959 that they would never make it in the film industry I feel incredibly surprised and privileged to be receiving this Fellowship from the BFI.”
