Veteran TV and movie star Dennis Farina had been battling lung cancer at the time of his death, his representative has revealed.
The Get Shorty actor passed away on Monday at a Scottsdale, Arizona hospital after suffering a blood clot in his lung.
Farina, 69, had been admitted to the medical facility on Saturday with breathing difficulties and it has since emerged that the star had been receiving treatment for cancer months before his demise.
A statement issued by his cardiologist, Dr. Marc A. Kates, reads: “He had a small cancer 13 years ago that was treated and cured with surgery. Over the last several months, he unfortunately experienced a recurrence of the cancer which was being treated. Despite treatment, over the weekend a blood clot developed in Mr. Farina’s lung which unexpectedly and suddenly took his life.”
