A representative for Dmx has insisted the troubled rapper only filed for bankruptcy so he could head out on a world tour.
The hip-hop hitmaker, real name Earl Simmons, lodged legal papers at the United States Bankruptcy Court in New York City on Monday, revealing he has less than $50,000 in assets and debts of more than $1 million.
His spokesperson Domenick Nati has now explained Simmons decided to file for bankruptcy to override restrictions put on his passport due to his debts, and reveals the star will head out on an overseas tour once the issues are resolved.
The statement reads, “DMX’s financial strains have been inhibiting his career for several years. Poor financial management by prior representation have (sic) caused him to be ineligible to retain a passport. The purpose of this bankruptcy filing is for reorganization (sic) so he can perform for his fans oversees. We are currently planning a tour in Europe and Africa for the fall of 2013.”
