Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker has reprised her time traveling character to offer up words of support and comfort amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The actress jumped on Twitter on Tuesday (24Mar20) and reassured fans struggling to come to grips with the global lockdown amid the health crisis to follow her example and chill out.
In Doctor Who attire, Jodie said, “Here’s what I do in any worrying situation. One, remember, you’ll get through this and things will be alright, even if they look uncertain, even if you’re worried, darkness never prevails. Two, tell jokes, even bad ones, especially bad ones, I’m brilliant at bad ones.”
In the video, Whittaker also urged her followers to be kind to one another and help those in need.
“Be kind, even kinder than you were yesterday, and I know you were super kind yesterday,” she added. “Look out for each other… Talking will help. Sharing will help. Look out for your friends, your neighbors, people you hardly know, and family, because in the end, we’re all family.”
She also encouraged people to “listen to science”, stating, “Listen to doctors, right? They’ve got your back… Stay strong, stay positive. You’ve got this. I will see you very soon.”
The uplifting message comes just days after Jodie’s former Doctor Who castmate, Sophia Myles, announced her father had died from coronavirus complications.
