Robert Downey, Jr. has a nutty new role – he’s providing the voice of Mr. Peanut in a new Planters ad campaign.
Mr. Peanut will speak for the very first time as part of an image makeover and the Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man star will give him a voice.

Kris Wixom, a creative director at Being, the advertising company behind the campaign, tells the New York Times that Downey, Jr. was chosen because of his “everyman suaveness” and because he has “a voice that could wear the top hat, monocle and cane and still feel contemporary and cool.”

The animated commercials will begin airing in the U.S. on Tuesday.
