Actor Josh Duhamel has confirmed he’s returning to the daytime soap that helped him launch his career – as a thank you to the producers who gave him his big break.
The Transformers star was stunned when he heard All My Children was to be cancelled and he contacted friends on the show to see if there was any way he could return as supposedly dead conman Leo du Pres in one of the soap’s final episodes.

Duhamel, who won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor on All My Children in 2002, says, “I heard… that it was going off the air and I was sad about that. It has been 41 years and that’s the show that gave me my opportunity.

“A lot of people aren’t gonna get that same chance now because the daytime drama itself is just kinda going away… so I just called up the casting director and asked her if I could come back and do something… as sort of a thank you.”

Duhamel filmed his comeback episodes last week and the star admits it was fun being back on set.

He adds, “It was a great three years and I was really green when I first started.”

All My Children will end in September.
