Eminem’s new album has shot to the top of the Billboard album charts, selling an incredible 741,000 copies of Recovery in its first week of release.

That’s the largest sales week for a single album since AC/DC’s Black Ice debuted with 784,000 in its first week back in October, 2008.

Recovery is Eminem’s sixth consecutive number one debut.

The rapper also had a big week in the digital charts – 255,000 of his first-week tally came from downloads – that’s the second-biggest digital week for an album in history. Only Coldplay’s Viva La Vida debuted higher.

Last week’s Billboard 200 chart-topper by Drake (Thank Me Later) falls a spot to two and Miley Cyrus debuts Can’t Be Tamed at three on the new countdown.

Ozzy Osbourne enters the chart high at four with Scream and hits compilation Now 34 rounds out the top five.
