Veteran moviemaker Francis Ford Coppola and opera singer Placido Domingo are to receive a $142,500 award as part of the world’s biggest art prize.
The Godfather director and The Three Tenors star Domingo are among five creative talents who will be honored by the Japan Art Association as part of thisyear’s Praemium Imperiale awards.
The other three winners are sculptor Antony Gormley, painter Michelangelo Pistoletto, and British architect Sir David Chipperfield. Each will receive a $142,500 prize at a ceremony in Japan in October for making a strong international impact in their chosen field.
