Anne Hathaway and James Franco will share the stage at the 2011 Oscars as co-hosts of Hollywood’s most prestigious event.
It will be Franco’s second appearance on an Oscar telecast, while Hathaway will be making her fifth appearance.

The actress was nominated for an Oscar in 2008 for her lead performance in Rachel Getting Married.

Neither has previously hosted the ceremony.

Making the announcement on Monday, Oscar telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer stated: “James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons – fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27. We are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that.”

The 83rd annual Academy Awards will be televised live from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.

This year’s prizegiving was co-hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.
