James Franco was honored for his humanitarian work at a star-studded AIDS charity event in New York on Tuesday.
The Spider-Man star received the Piaget Award of Inspiration for his philanthropy and contributions to men’s style at amfAR’s second annual Inspiration Gala.

He says, “I’m still a little unsure why I’m being honored, but I’m glad that I’m here and I’m glad that I can help. It’s certainly a cause that I believe in.”

Designer Michael Kors was also among the honorees at the city’s Museum of Modern Art and he stepped onstage to accept the Award of Courage.

Jennifer Hudson, Courtney Love and Liza Minnelli performed during the bash for Dame Elizabeth Taylor’s amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research charity.

Ke$ha, Lance Bass and Heidi Klum were also among the guests at the event.
