British actor Freddie Jones has died at the age of 91.
The father of The Hunger Games star Toby Jones passed away on Tuesday (09Jul19) after a brief illness, according to his agent, Lesley Duff.
Freddie was well known for his role as Sandy Thomas in Emmerdale, in which he starred from 2005 until 2018. He also made a guest appearance on the longrunning TV series earlier this year (19) as his character prepared to relocate to Australia.
He had been a regular on screen since breaking into the industry in the 1960s, with early roles on the show The Caesars, and in films like Far from the Madding Crowd and Hammer horror movies Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed and The Satanic Rites of Dracula.
Freddie went on to become a regular in David Lynch projects, such as The Elephant Man (1980), Dune (1984), and Wild at Heart (1990), and continued to work in TV, with his other credits including The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, The Ghosts of Motley Hall, Nicholas Nickleby, and The District Nurse.
