Morgan Freeman is to be honored with the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award next year.
The Oscar-winning star’s 40-year career will be celebrated at a star-studded ceremony in Los Angeles in June.

Freeman previously won an Academy Award in 2005 for his role in Million Dollar Baby. He also landed a Golden Globe for 1989’s Driving Miss Daisy.

Previous winners of the coveted award include Michael Douglas, Al Pacino, Sean Connery and Meryl Streep. The Graduate director Mike Nichols picked up the title this year.
