Ailing Hollywood star Zsa Zsa Gabor is battling an infection which will keep her hospitalized indefinitely, according to her publicist.

The 93-year-old actress was due to leave hospital on Monday but doctors are keeping her under their care after she developed the infection, her spokesperson John Blanchette tells the Associated Press.

Gabor has been recovering at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles since breaking her hip at her California home on 17 July.

She underwent hip-replacement surgery days later but has faced a series of setbacks as she fights to recover. It is believed the star went into shock on Saturday and had a bad reaction after receiving painkiller morphine.
