Police have confirmed they arrested a man at Paris Hilton’s Los Angeles home on Tuesday morning, after the socialite alleged a stranger tried to break in while holding two large knives.

Petrified Hilton took to her blog on Twitter.com to write of her terror after she awakened to a strange noise and discovered a man trying to gain entry to her house.

Posting a picture of cops arresting a man in her garden, she wrote: “So scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes (sic). Cops are here arresting him.”

Local police officer Gregory Baek confirms a man in his 40s attempted to break into Hilton’s mansion at approximately 6:30am local time and was taken into custody at a local jail.

He could not confirm if the man was armed.

However, a spokesperson for the star has assured fans she was unharmed: “Paris is naturally shaken by the events but is unharmed and well. She is very thankful to her security team and the police for their swift and diligent response.”

As WENN went to press it was unclear if the burglar targeted Hilton or if it was a random incident.
