Actor Hugh Jackman has been offered a whopping $100 million to reprise his role as Wolverine in four more action movies, according to reports.
The X-Men star has portrayed the clawed character since 2000 and has helped to make the Marvel Comics creation one of the most popular mutant superheroes from the film franchise.
Now, executives at 20th Century Fox, the studio behind the big screen adaptations, are reportedly looking to capitalise on the success of the latest spin-off project, this summer’s The Wolverine, and have offered the actor a huge salary to keep him onboard.
A source tells the National Enquirer, “Hugh has a big decision to make. It’s not every day an actor gets offered this kind of pay cheque, but Hugh vowed never to lock himself into any mult-ipicture deals after X-Men. He hasn’t given any kind of answer yet, so at least he’s considering it.”
A movie spokesperson adds, “The studio would love to have Hugh play Wolverine for the next two decades. The bosses want him, and money is obviously no object.”
Jackman made his debut as Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men and has gone on to appear in each of the sequels, including the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.
He landed his first Wolverine spin-off in 2009 with the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
