John Travolta was presented with his second lifetime achievement award in less than a week on Sunday when he was honored at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
The Pulp Fiction star was recognized for his lengthy career at the Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland on Thursday, and just three days later he picked up another trophy in Spain.
He was handed the prestigious Donostia Award by his Savages co-star Benicio del Toro.
Travolta told reporters, “So much energy is spent in the nullification and invalidation of other people. So if some group of people get together to pat you on the back and say good job, I’ll take it… thank you.”
Del Toro also handed his Savages director Oliver Stone the same award, and was full of praise for the moviemaker, insisting his pal was “representing… a fearless, committed filmmaking that shows reality without adornments or lies.”
Accepting his honor, Stone said, “You have a gigantic heart, San Sebastian. This is a beautiful city, with beautiful people, and culture.”
