Kacey Musgraves: ‘Creative People Are Shining Right Now’

Kacey Musgraves paid tribute to all the “creative people” making inspirational music after scooping the top award at the Grammys on Sunday night.
The 30-year-old country star was stunned to collect the Album of the Year award for her Golden Hour and as well as sharing how thankful” she was for the support of the Grammys, Kacey took a moment to express how inspired she was by all the nominees at the prestigious awards ceremony.
“Music to me isn’t about what’s better, who’s better, so it can feel funny,” she explained to Entertainment Tonight. “It’s interesting, there’s so many different kinds of music out there, and to say that something is the best the whole year when art and music is – and shows even – it really seems like creative people are shining right now, so to be a part of any of that is insane.”
Kacey also highlighted some of the of musicians that have inspired her and have influenced her award-winning sound.
“I’m inspired by a million different kinds of music,” she continued. “There are so many other parts of music that inspire me – all over the map, Shade, the Bee Gees, Fleetwood Mac. I mean, it’s everything. It’s whatever feels good, and it was fun to play all those things.”
Kacey was a shock winner over a category stuffed with artists including Drake, Kendrick Lamar-curated Black Panther soundtrack, Post Malone, Cardi B, H.E.R. and Janelle Monáe. And when the Texan-born star was asked how she planned to celebrate her win, her response was suitable down to earth.
“I’m gonna hang out with my husband (singer Ruston Kelly), my whole team, I don’t know, get some tequila hopefully,” she quipped, adding, “I need a carb in my life actually.”
