Chaka Khan and soul star Betty Wright were among protesters calling for justice following the death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin in Miami on Sunday.
The singers joined sport stars, human rights leaders and members of the slain student’s family at a rally and called for the arrest of Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who shot and killed Martin in February after mistaking the unarmed teenager for a person of suspicion.

Speaking to the protesters, Khan said, “The message I bring to you today is fear kills and love heals.”

Last week, the singer released a public service announcement and tribute song in honor of Martin.

The track, a reworking of her 2007 track Super Life: Fear Kills, Love Heals, is accompanied by a video featuring Angela Bassett and actor Terry Crews.
