Country trio Lady Antebellum have been rewarded for their songwriting skills after scooping a top honor at the Broadcast Music Inc (BMI) Annual Pop Awards on Tuesday.
The band accepted the BMI Pop Song of the Year Award for their hit Need You Now, which was written by bandmates Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley, at the annual Los Angeles ceremony, which celebrates the year’s top songwriters.

Lady Gaga was picked to receive the Pop Songwriter of the Year honor, which she shared with R&B singer Jason Derulo and producer J. R. Rotem.

Legendary songwriter David Foster – who has penned classics for Whitney Houston, Madonna, and Celine Dion – was named a BMI Icon.

Brian McKnight, Keri Hilson and Chaka Khan each paid homage to Foster by singing a variety of his hits.
