Lady Gaga was moved to tears by a video tribute put together by fans in Indonesia following the cancellation of the pop superstar’s concert in Jakarta.
The Poker Face hitmaker was expected to perform in the capital on Sunday, but the Born This Way Ball show was scrapped early last week after local police threatened to deny the singer a work permit due to pressure from conservative campaigners opposed to her saucy onstage antics.
She offered to tone down the gig or even hit the stage solo to avoid causing offense, but the concert was axed completely when protesters threatened the star’s safety.
Gaga admitted she was devastated by the decision, but a group of local fans have cheered her up by pledging their support to the singer in a flash mob-style video.
In the 10-minute clip, posted on video sharing website, around 100 devotees dressed in Gaga-like attire gathered at a local shopping center and launched into a choreographed routine to songs like Bad Romance and Telephone.
The fans, known as Little Monsters, wrapped up the film with a message that reads: “Tons of rejection and hatred are everywhere (sic). But still, we will always (have) your back. We respect your decision (to cancel) BTW Ball, and it doesn’t change how much we love you. We love you, Mother Monster, ’til the end.”
And the touching tribute has left their pop idol in tears.
In a post on Monday, she writes, “This made me cry so hard. I love you so much. You are the best fans in the world.”
