Pop star Lady Gaga has treated a teenage fan to concert tickets and a collection of gifts after learning that he had been shot by a deranged gunman at his Maryland high school earlier this year.
Suspected gunman Robert Wayne Gladden Jr. opened fire in the cafeteria of Baltimore’s Perry Hall High School on 27 August, striking Daniel Borowy, who was grazed by a bullet.
The 17-year-old superfan, who has Down’s syndrome, has since made a full recovery and his story has prompted Gaga to send him a number of early Christmas presents – including an autographed message and front row tickets to one of her upcoming shows.
In a post on, his father Milton Borowy writes, “I would like to start by thanking everyone for their thoughts and prayers for Daniel. With everything that is going on I was waiting for an appropriate time to share this information and feel that maybe we need some good news! With that said I would like to share that he has received a package from Lady Gaga.
“It is pretty cool that someone in her position took the time to make a complete stranger happy.. The package included T shirts, cd’s, a persoanlly (sic) autographed message to Danny, a picture and 2 tickets to her upcoming concert.. ( I believe they are front row) To see the smile on his face is overwhelming.. Thank you Lady Gaga!!”
The news comes just days after 20-year-old Adam Lanza massacred 20 kids and six staffmembers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut last week, before turning the gun on himself.
