Newlyweds Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton were the toast of the Country Music Association Awards in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday night after picking up the two top vocalist prizes.
Lambert, who married Shelton in May, was crowned Female Vocalist of the Year, while her new husband picked up the male equivalent at the star-studded Bridgestone Arena ceremony.

Joking with Shelton, who opened the show by performing the Footloose movie theme with Kenny Loggins, as she picked up her prize, Lambert teased, “It’s gonna be a good night, baby!”

Taylor Swift missed out on several top prizes, but walked away with the coveted Entertainer of the Year title at the end of the show.

The singer wrote her thank you list on her arm and read off all of the artists she has performed with this year, including Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber, as part of her acceptance speech.

Other big winners at the prizegiving, which was co-hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, included The Band Perry, who picked up a total of three trophies, including Single and Song of the Year for their hit If I Die Young.

Other stars celebrating included Jason Aldean, who was honored with the Album of the Year prize for My Kinda Party, while his Don’t You Wanna Stay duet with Kelly Clarkson landed the Musical Event of the Year accolade.

Lady Antebellum were awarded their third straight Vocal Group of the Year trophy, while Sugarland were named Best Vocal Duo.

The duo dedicated their win to the victims of the Indiana State Fair stage collapse. Seven concertgoers were killed earlier this year as they waited for the band’s set.

The performance highlights came from Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, who sang with British singer Natasha Bedingfield, and Kenny Chesney, while Faith Hill performed at the ceremony for the first time in five years, belting out a rendition of Come Home.

Keith Urban also hit the stage for one of his final performances before throat surgery.

But the stand-out performance of the night came from soul man Lionel Richie, who used the event to launch his new country album and brought Darius Rucker, Rascall Flatts and Little Big Town onstage to sing country versions of a number of his hits, including Stuck On You and Dancing on the Ceiling.
