Retired cyclist Lance Armstrong has been stripped of the seven Tour de France victories he picked up during his impressive career amid an ongoing investigation based on allegations he used illegal performance-enhancing drugs.
Officials at the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency have also banned Armstrong from the sport of cycling for life.
The sportsman has maintained his innocence throughout this and previous investigations, but on Thursday he declared he will no longer fight the doping allegations which have blighted his hugely successful career.
The heavy penalties were handed down to Armstrong on Friday.
