Ailing Motorhead rocker Lemmy has thanked fans for their outpouring of support after his health woes forced the band to axe the remainder of its European tour.
The British group initially pulled three live shows last month following reports the frontman, who recently underwent heart surgery, was suffering with a “severe haematoma” – a localised collection of blood outside the vessels.
The band has yet to specify the nature of Lemmy’s illness, but he has been ordered by doctors to rest up, prompting the stars to cancel all of its summer gigs, including festival sets in Sweden, Germany and France.
Now the singer has reached out to devotees to express his sincere apologies.
A statement posted on Motorhead’s website reads: “I’d like to thank everyone who wished me well, it was a tough decision for me as I don’t like to disappoint the fans especially in times where (sic) economy is bad and people spent their money to see us.”
