Liam Hemsworth missed the premiere of his new movie Isn’t It Romantic on Monday night, leaving wife Miley Cyrus to explain that he’s “recovering” following a health scare.
The Hunger Games star was notably absent from the pink carpet of the Los Angeles premiere, which came a day after he also missed the Grammy Awards, where his other half was performing. His Isn’t It Romantic co-star Rebel Wilson previously told U.S. TV show Extra that he’d been hospitalised, causing him to miss the film’s press junket interviews on Sunday, while Miley further opened up about the situation to Entertainment Tonight at the premiere on Monday.
“Liam’s feeling good. He has to, you know, rest up, but he loves this film,” she shared. “He’s so proud of it and I really wanted to be able to represent it for him… (Also) I had my dress already and I couldn’t let it go to waste.”
She later posted a picture of herself at the premiere on Instagram and wrote, “So proud of my hunky hubby @liamhemsworth & his newest movie #IsntItRomantic. He unfortunately wasn’t able to attend due to health reasons… but he is recovering and taking this time to rest / heal.
“It’s hard for entertainers to put themselves before the project but this time it was crucial …. I am proud to represent him and his incredible work. So happy to see him shining in this comedy! He is the funniest person I know , and the world now gets to see the Liam I wake up to every day.”
Meanwhile, Liam also took to his Instagram page to share a snap of Miley posing with Rebel on the pink carpet, and wrote: “Sorry I couldn’t make it to the @isntitromantic premier tonight guys. Been dealing with some pretty annoying health stuff the last couple days. Lucky I have the best girl in the world to represent for me! Thanks for the support babe!”
While neither Miley nor Liam went into specifics about the actor’s health issues, a source close to the actor told Us Weekly that he was hospitalised because he was “suffering from kidney stones”.
