Jade Thirlwall has joined a chorus of stars urging the British public to vote in Thursday’s general election.
The Little Mix singer took to social media to share her support for Britain’s Labor Party, led by opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn, and to encourage fans to use their “voice” to save the National Health Service.
“I grew up knowing the importance of taking part in our society and realizing that we all have a choice and we all have a voice,” she wrote on Instagram while wearing a sweatshirt with the slogan ‘for the many not the few’. “I want to use my platform to encourage you to do the same and use your voice tomorrow in the General Election. Young people are less likely to vote but it’s so important that you do and have a say in the future of your country. Who you vote for is your decision but whatever you do, make sure you use your vote.”
The 26-year-old went on to explain she would be voting for a Labor government as she believes it’s important to support the majority of society.
“Coming from a working class background, I know it’s important that we have a government which supports everyone and not the few. We need to save our NHS,” she continued. “Labor believes in funding the arts. They support the fight against climate change. Their manifesto supports equality and the LGBT community.”
She added: “Whoever and however you vote tomorrow, be proud of your choice and use your voice.”
Meanwhile Lily Allen, Paloma Faith and Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams have all urged Brits to make Labor leader Corbyn the next Prime Minister. Rapper Stormzy also described him as a “man of hope”, adding that anyone who votes for the current Prime Minister Boris Johnson is “stupid”, describing the Conservative Party leader as a “f**king pr**k.
