Jane Lynch is backing her Glee co-star Lauren Potter’s campaign to stamp out hateful language and promote the acceptance of disabled people.
Lynch has teamed up with Potter, who was born with Down’s Syndrome, to film a public service announcement (PSA) called Spread the Word to End the Word.

In the PSA, the duo speaks out against the pejorative use of the word ‘retard’ and compare its connotations to racial slurs.

Potter says, “It is not acceptable to call me a retard or call yourself or your friends retarded when they do something foolish.”

Lynch agrees, “The ‘R’ word is the same as every minority slur. Treat it that way and don’t use it.”
