Mary J. Blige & JAY-Z Lead NAACP Image Awards Nominations

Mary J. Blige and Jay-Z have landed five nominations apiece for the NAACP Image Awards in January.
The rapper will compete with Bruno Mars, Issa Rae, Chance the Rapper, Chadwick Boseman, and director Ava DuVernay for the coveted Entertainer of the Year trophy, as well as landing mentions for his 4:44 album and songs featured on the release, while Blige picked up nods for songs and videos from her album Strength of a Woman on Monday.
Mars, who claimed seven awards at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, Issa Rae, Kendrick Lamar, and SZA picked up four nominations each.
The 49th NAACP Image Awards, where entertainers and writers of color are celebrated, will take place on January 15. Actor Anthony Anderson, who is also a nominee for Best TV Comedy Actor, will host.
Idris Elba is the leading acting nominee, with nominations for his film roles in The Mountain Between Us and Thor: Ragnorak, and for Showtime mini-series Guerrilla.
