Matthew Mcconaughey has joined the ownership team of Major League Soccer expansion club Austin FC.
The Oscar winner and his model wife Camila Alves showed off their soccer skills by kicking a ball between them while announcing the new deal at the 3TEN ACL Live event in his native Texas on Friday.
Matthew, who calls Austin home, said, “Austin FC is more than a quality investment for Austin, it’s a quality investment in Austin.
“The most diverse and borderless game in the world is now coming to one of the most multi-cultural, creative and diverse cities in the world. Austin FC is a healthy investment in our city’s culture and future.”
He’s not the only celebrity investing in the MLS – Ciara and her sportsman husband Russell Wilson were recently named co-owners of the Seattle Sounders, where comedian Drew Carey has been a longtime co-owner, and Will Ferrell is among the big names on the board of Los Angeles’ new soccer team, LAFC.
