Matthew Modine is set to join the long list of actors who have portrayed real-life U.S. presidents on the big screen after signing on to portray George Bush in a new film.
The Full Metal Jacket star will join John Travolta in the story of a speedboat racing champion who leads a double life as a smuggler, and Modine will play the 41st President in the drama.
“I’ll be playing George Herbert Walker Bush opposite John Travolta in a movie about cigarette boats that we’ll be filming in Puerto Rico,” Modine tells WENN. “My struggle is not to sound like Dana Carvey.”

President Bush has previously been played by John Roarke (The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear), Daniel T. Healy (Hot Shots! Part Deux), and James Cromwell in 2008’s W.
