Rocker Meat Loaf has scrapped another concert over health concerns – but this time he wasn’t the one who called in sick.
The Bat Out of Hell singer has scrapped a number on gigs in the past two years due to medical reasons, but Sunday’s show at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England was postponed when “several members of the band” fell ill.
The concert was cancelled just 30 minutes before the doors were due to open to let fans in to the venue and the rocker took to his page to tell fans, “We are very sorry to announce that tonight’s performance has had to be postponed due to medical reasons afflicting several members of the band.”
The gig, which was part of Meat Loaf’s Last At Bat farewell tour, has been rescheduled for 20 May.
He hit the headlines last week after bursting into tears during a show in London.
The 65 year old was visibly emotional throughout his Wednesday night concert at the O2 Arena and tears streamed down his face as he thanked fans for their support over the years.
After the concert, in a post on his page, Meat Loaf wrote: “What an incredible night!!! London, you were beyond amazing. Thank you to each and every one of you that came and shared this evening with us!!!”
The veteran singer previously addressed his most recent health issues, revealing his stage blackouts are results of past concussion injuries.
He sparked fears for his health in July, 2011 after collapsing onstage twice in three days, He he subsequently blamed the health drama on his asthma, but he told Britain’s The One Show, “I’ve had 18 concussions and for the last three or four years they’ve been flaring up. After 18 concussions I knew something had to come around, sometime. My equilibrium is off. The last few years I kind of get on stage, I will wobble a bit and stumble.”
