Troubled singer George Michael has been charged with drugs and motoring offenses following a car crash earlier this year.

The Faith hitmaker was arrested after his Range Rover mounted a kerb and hit the front of a shop in North London on 4 July. He was tested for alcohol and drugs after the crash and was bailed pending further inquiries.

The former Wham! frontman returned to a police station on Thursday by prior arrangement, and has been charged with possessing cannabis and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

Michael is due to appear at London’s Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on 24 August.
