Michael Douglas is helping his children break into Hollywood after they both expressed a desire to start acting.
The Hollywood legend has two kids with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, Dylan, 12, and Carys, 10, and they both want to follow their parents into showbusiness.
Douglas admits he was initially reluctant to let the youngsters become child stars, but he has now agreed to let them audition for upcoming movie roles.
He tells Event magazine, “Both Dylan and Carys want to be actors. I had no desire for this. But this week Dylan is playing the Artful Dodger in (school musical) Oliver and he said, ‘Dad, can I ask a favor? You know I’m doing really well in school? And I’m doing the show and working hard,’ I said, ‘I know, son.’ Dylan says, ‘So do you think you can throw me a bone, in a movie?’… So there are a couple of kid parts coming up and they are going for auditions.”
However, Douglas is convinced his kids won’t be drawn into the dark side of Hollywood as they live in New York, away from the spotlight in Los Angeles.
He adds, “I’d worry if we lived in Hollywood, but New York is different. This industry is a tiny part of it.”
