Miguel Relying On Fans To Secure AMA Honour

R&B star Miguel is calling on his fans to help cap off his 2011 with a top honour at the American Music Awards.

The Sure Thing singer is shortlisted for the Best New Artist category, alongside stars including Wiz Khalifa, LMFAO and Foster The People, and Miguel’s urging devotees to take part in thepublic vote to help him secure the accolade.

In a post on his Twitter.com blog, he writes, “MAJOR THANK YOU TO MY FANS, I’m a “Best New Artist” nominee for this Yr’s (year’s) AMA’s! Vote for me”

But fans have to move fast – the first round of voting for his category closes on 21 October. Voting is now underway at the official AMA website.

The nomination is great news for Miguel – he was also tipped for success as a 2011 Grey Goose Rising Icon alongside rapper Big Sean and soul star Marsha Ambrosius at a party in New York on Monday.
