Miley Cyrus and Justin Timberlake have been given the go-ahead to perform at a venue in Helsinki, Finland after the shows were threatened by US sanctions.
The Russian owners of the city’s Hartwall Arena venue, Gennady Timchenko and Boris and Arkady Rotenberg, were named in a list of individuals who have been targeted by American sanctions put in place following Russia’s recent retaking of Ukraine’s Crimea region.
The news sparked fears Cyrus and Timberlake, who are due to perform at the venue in the coming months, would be forced to cancel their shows, but promoters have now confirmed the concerts will not be affected by the sanctions.
Live Nation representative Nina Castren tells Reuters, “The sanctions will not have an impact on Hartwall Arena nor our business there.”
Timberlake will perform at the Hartwall Arena on 12 May, while Cyrus will take her Bangerz tour there on 1 June.
