Moby Urges Fans To Support Petition Calling For Tighter Gun Control

Dance star Moby is calling on fans to join him in the fight for tighter gun control laws by signing an online petition in the wake of the Connecticut elementary school massacre.
The Porcelain hitmaker was among the many celebrities who expressed their horror at the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy on Friday, taking to to share their shock with fans at the 20 kids slain by suspected gunman Adam Lanza.
Upon hearing news of the tragedy, Moby wrote, “more heartbreaking school shootings. dear god, it’s just awful.”
Now the singer is using his fame to draw attention to the need for new legislation to curb the gun violence that has devastated communities in places like Connecticut and Colorado, where 12 theater-goers were gunned down and 57 others injured during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora in July.
In a series of tweets, he writes, “If stricter gun control saves even one child’s life isn’t it worth it? Immediately address the issue of gun control through the introduction of legislation in Congress.”
Moby then provided followers with a link to the online petition, directed at President Barack Obama and his administration, which had already attracted over 160,000 signatures since its creation on Friday.
He later updated fans, stating: “Gun control petition is most popular ever on White House site”.
Moby joins a slew of stars, including Cher and Cyndi Lauper, who have spoken out in the aftermath of the devastating shooting to urge politicians to tighten the country’s firearms laws to prevent another gun rampage.
