R&B star Ne-Yo, singer Josh Kelley and his actress wife Katherine Heigl have been honored for their foster care work and commitment to adoption.
Bosses at the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute recognized all three stars as National Angels in Adoption during their awards gala in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.
They saluted the trio for helping to enrich the lives of young children abandoned by their birth parents.
Ne-Yo was applauded for creating the Compound Foundation, which supports kids in the welfare system, and Kelley and Heigl were celebrated for welcoming two young tots into their family and serving as adoption advocates.
The former Grey’s Anatomy star, whose sister was also adopted, said, “Adoption has always been a part of my life and my family. Josh and I are honored to be selected as National Angels in Adoption and we hope this recognition will help raise awareness of the millions of children worldwide who are without families.”
