Nicole Scherzinger was left “scratched and bruised” after rehearsing for the Pussycat Dolls’ comeback performance on The X Factor: Celebrity.
The 41-year-old singer reunited with bandmates Jessica Sutta, Ashley Roberts, Carmit Bachar, and Kimberly Wyatt for the reunion medley on the British TV show, during which the group also debuted their new single React.
The raunchy performance, for which the five-piece donned skimpy ensembles and performed sexy choreography, garnered over 400 complaints to regulatory body Ofcom. And speaking to The Sun newspaper about the performance, Nicole admitted getting the moves perfect – including the move which singers fell backwards off a podium into the arms of their dancers – took more than a little hard work.
“We had to rehearse it….It’s so dangerous, we got scratches and bruises from that,” she said. “It doesn’t look that high. But when you’re up there your throat dries up real fast.
“(I like to do dangerous stuff). But that was a whole other thing. Because they want you to kind of fall gently suspended in mid-air, then twist, it was so scary.”
The girls will be pulling out all the stops when they team up again for their reunion tour. And they won’t be letting the Ofcom complaints get in the way of them putting on a fab show, with Nicole promising: “We want to put on the greatest show for you guys. We’re going to blow you all away. It’s official, it’s actually real to us. We can’t believe it.”
