Boxer and entertainer Oscar De La Hoya has extended his time in rehab.
The champion-turned-promoter hit the headlines in September when he announced he was seeking help following a relapse in his battle to stay sober.
And now his sidekick at Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schaefer, tells The Bleacher Report the 40 year old will sit out the Bernard Hopkins-Karo Murat fight in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Saturday as he continues with his substance abuse-related rehab.
Schaefer says, “He is good. He’s still in rehab. He extended his time there a bit. He knows it’s important he’s focusing on what he needs to focus on, himself and his family. I talked to him, went to see him as well. He’s doing fine.”
