Veteran pop star Donny Osmond has been forced to sit out of his Las Vegas variety show with sister Marie after doctors diagnosed him with vocal fatigue.
The siblings have a residency at the Flamingo hotel and casino, but Marie Osmond has been left to headline the show on her own for the past week – because her brother has been placed on vocal rest.

She has been joined by singer and former tour collaborator Shane Baker, who will continue to fill in for Donny “until further notice”, according to the Osmonds’ representative.

But the Paper Roses star has assured fans Donny will be back onstage in no time.

In a post on Twitter.com, she writes, “No worries, @donnyosmond is going to be fine. Just protecting his voice. Singers have to rest it for faster recovery. Miss ya, bro!”

Puppy Love singer Donny isn’t the only Vegas performer struck down by illness – Celine Dion fell ill last month and was forced to scrap a series of shows in her Sin City residency after medics ordered her to undertake several weeks of complete vocal rest. She is due to return to the stage in June.
