Veteran opera star Placido Domingo has been forced to cancel a handful of upcoming appearances after seeking treatment for a blockage in his lung.
The Spanish tenor was admitted to a hospital in his native Madrid on Monday after suffering a pulmonary embolism, caused by a blood clot.
The 72 year old is expected to make a full recovery, however doctors have ordered the singer to rest for a minimum of three to four weeks. As a result, Domingo has axed all of his performances through 21 July.
His publicist, Nancy Seltzer, tells Reuters, “He’s doing very well and responding very well to treatment.”
This isn’t the star’s first brush with ill health in recent years – he underwent colon cancer surgery in 2010.
